Unplug For The Weekend #3 – “Where The Time Has Gone”

“Where The Time Has Gone” unplugged

“Blue sky summer stretched from May to September

Felt like forever when I was young”

Here’s a semi-autobiographical song – forgive the indulgence! But I hope it’s one that everyone can relate to.

It’s about looking back over your life and wondering where the time went. And knowing that wherever you are on that path there will come a time when you have to move on.

Blue sky summer stretched from May to September
Felt like forever when I was young
Everybody smiling, everybody laughing
Everybody happy as the days were long
And every Sunday we heard the old old story
Told by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Then music took me, I found my religion
Now all that’s certain is those days are gone
They’re gone
Moving on

Moving on, life keeps moving on
It’s on my mind where all the time has gone
Where all the time has gone

Got my first girlfriend, she just didn’t know it
It was my little secret, I never let it show
Just couldn’t tell her the spell she put me under
Sometimes I wonder what she’s doing now
I went out working and I made my living
Never made a million but I did okay
And I got a family, oh I love them dearly
I remember so clearly how they filled my days
But now they’re gone
Moving on

Moving on, life keeps moving on
It’s on my mind where all the time has gone
Where all the time has gone

I tried to walk a straight road
But every road I took seemed to bend
Every bend has a story
Every story has an end

There’s one who melts me, she turns me to water
Draws me like a river is drawn to the sea
Don’t get me started on how much I love her
I’ll talk to you forever about what she means to me
Well we got older and our days are growing shorter
Our sons and daughters look out for us now
But it doesn’t matter that our time is nearly over
Love is forever and life moves on
Never gone
Just moving on

Moving on, life keeps moving on
It’s on my mind where all the time has gone
Where all the time has gone
It’s on my mind where all the time has gone
All the time has gone
