A song for planet earth. Calling all eco warriors, climate activists or anyone who is simply aware that our lives are in danger from the way that planet earth has been exploited. This song just for you.
I co-wrote this song with the very wonderful Louise Wisechild.
Louise is a passionate activist and great writer of modern protest songs. She writes and sings original songs of empowerment, courage, spirit and social justice with (often) a folk music vibe and a contemporary sound.
We’d already written a number of songs together (check out Come Back Alice and Buzzing Bees – A Song For Earthlings). The starter for this song was Louise saying she wanted to sing something driving, impactful and anthemic. We decided we wanted write about climate change, but with a twist – holding to account those who have grown wealthy by exploiting the planet and our fellow humans.
Although we wrote Flood’s Gonna Come for Louise into sing I knew that it was perfect for my band Nowhere To Hide, and it’s been really popular at our gigs. It was a no-brainer to try an unplugged version.
